The Woman Sitting on the Beast with 7 Heads & 10 Horns (Rev 17:3)

1) Who or what does the woman represent?

She represents a great city (Rev.17:18).

2) What does it mean she sits on many waters (Rev.17:1)?

The many waters represent people, multitudes, nations & tongues (Rev.17:15), that is, the city has great influence over the people of the world.

3) The woman is a great harlot with a name written on her forehead:

Mystery Babylon the Great,

Mother of Harlots and of the

Abominations of the Earth (Rev.17:5).

4) Why is she a harlot?

The kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication (Rev.17:2).

Furthermore, while the people of the earth drunk the wine of her fornication, she in turn drunk the blood of the saints and martyrs of Jesus (Rev.17:6).

5) The city sits or is built on 7 mountains (Rev.17:9).

Double reference:

The 7 heads are 7 mountains (Rev.17:9)

The 7 heads are also 7 kings or kingdoms (Rev.17:10).

The 7 Heads represent not only the 7 physical Mountains on which the city is built upon but also represent the 7 Empire spirits. In other words, the 7 spirits of the Empires have all made their home in that city.

As the woman (city) is carried by the 7 heads and 10 horns beast, therefore, the city must be located within the area of the 7 empires represented by the 7 heads beast. There are several cities built on 7 mountains – which one?

a) Rome, Italy

b) Lisbon, Portugal

c) Istanbul, Turkey

d) Jerusalem, Israel

e) Athens, Greece

f) ) Brussels, Belgium

Answer:

Rome is that city. The 7 hills are Aventine, Caelian, Capitoline, Esquiline, Palatine, Quirinal, and Viminal.

Consider this, the woman is arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones & pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abomination and filthiness of her fornication (Rev.17:4)

6) The woman (Vatican City & Rome) will eventually be destroyed by the 10 kings or 10 horns empires (Rev.17:16-17), that is, the 10 regions of the world will revolt and turn against the False Prophet, and also the Antichrist.

Why the 7 mountains should be taken literally?

Answer: the 7 heads represents 7 kings/empires and 7 mountains. As the 7 kings/empires are actual, the 7 mountains must also be actual. Thus, the 7 mountains should not continue to be symbolic.

In view of this, the ‘Seven Mountains Mandate’ doctrine promoted by the late Peter Wagner is not the right interpretation of the 7 Mountains. He believed they are symbolic and represent the 7 areas where the Church needs to exercise control over before Jesus can return to the earth. According to him, the 7 mountains are:
